Say Hi to Deckset 2!
Today, we are stoked to release the most significant update to Deckset to date.
Customize and create your own themes
Deckset 2 allows you to modify any theme to suit your needs. If you have a great design idea for your presentation, or need to stick to a corporate brand guideline, you can now change the typeface, colors and various aspects of the layout.
You can also create your own Deckset themes and share them with your friends and co-workers.
You basically have maximum flexibility – combined with the ease of use Deckset was designed around.
Deckset 2 is a paid upgrade
All updates since the initial launch of Deckset four years ago were free, even though we continuously added themes and features.
However, customisation is a big one. It fundamentally changes what Deckset can do for you and your company, and it took us quite a while to bring this to life. (You can read more about it here if you’re interested.)
This is why we decided to make this a paid upgrade. It wasn’t the easiest decision to take, and we would like to thank everyone in advance for their continued support. This is exactly what will allow us to keep evolving Deckset in the future.
Our pricing model remains straight-forward: pay upfront, yours to keep. With a purchase of Deckset 2 you get all themes and full customization functionality – no recurring subscription fee, no in-app purchases.
Customers who bought Deckset after March 1st, 2017 are eligible for a free upgrade.
Educational and Team Discounts
We are also using this opportunity to leave the Mac App Store.
Let us explain why. The main reason for us to leave the App Store is greater flexibility in pricing. For example, we are now able to offer a 50% discount to students, teachers and other members of educational institutions. That is something we simply couldn’t do before, and we feel it’s essential to reflect the realities of how and why people use Deckset.
There also is a 20% discount for teams buying either 5 or 10 copies of Deckset in bulk. For a discount on larger volumes, please get in touch.
Since Deckset will now live independently of the Mac App Store (and hence, its tedious submission and review process) we will also be able to release updates much more frequently. We very much look forward to that, and we would love to hear your thoughts on the new Deckset as well as potential new features.
The input and support we received from the Deckset community throughout the months of bringing customization to life was overwhelming, and we couldn’t thank everyone enough for it.
A special shout-out goes to Deckset user Dannie who fired over this great idea for dividing slides. In Deckset 2, it is no longer necessary to use dividers (
---) to indicate the beginning of a new slide. Instead, you can tell Deckset to automatically start a new slide with each header, which will keep your Markdown file just as clean as purists will want it to be. Yay.
